Useful equipment for children to help with sensory issues and emotional regulation-

Swing (indoor and outdoor.) Sensory Tools have a couple. So do www.sensamart.com.au . Or you may find a swinging chair or hammock chair in a local furniture store or somewhere like Bunnings.

Sound reducing Headphones help children who are overly sensitive to auditory input. They can create a quiet space at home without having to go into another room. www.sensamart.com.au have “Kids Ear Defenders”. Or try your local safety ware shop that stock ear muffs for industry.

For some children weighted blankets, weighted knee rug, weighted cushions or weighted toys may be helpful to help them settle. See the websites specialising in sensory tools above.

Occupational Therapists provide assessments and interventions for children with sensory processing difficulties.
